Shape Cities

 

To identify the design principles present in the selected narrative and translate it into a structure not exceeding 300mm x 300mm. Only 3 sizes of cubes and cuboids can be used throughout the structure.

IDENTIFYING DESIGN PRINCIPLES

The actions has a sense of rhythm.

There is a repetition of actions.

There is mention of "construction" and "destruction", which are both total opposites.

Little of the city can be seen from outside.

But there is a lot of things that are going on within the city itself, once you step in.

To show contrast, one side of the structure is taller than the other side. There is also this idea of the structure being incomplete as the narrative mentioned that the city is still under construction.

Rhythm and repetition is seen through the placement of the volumes. Certain parts are repeated to form the structure.
